Exhuming A Coffin

Visiting the cemetery for the first time. Its not as scary as I thought it would be.
In fact, its peaceful! Especially so when we set off quite early.
The drive there was really nice! Cool weather and the place was misty. The sun was just starting to rise, the brillant blueish colour looks so calming. Seems so nice to just doze off in the car, but that would be such a waste of the beautiful scenery.

Arrived at the cemetery which was said to be on a slight hill. I could see the sun rising. So lovely. Wandered further away from the rest of the family so that I could have a better view of the sunrise. Too bad I didn't bring the digi cam. The only pics taken were using dad's hp. But I don't have a way to transfer it to the com right now.

Walked back to my grandma's coffin which was being exhumed. I've never seen my this grandma before. She has been lying in that spot longer than I've been moving around in this world.

Ok... Faint-hearted people/ Easily disturbed peopled/ People who throw popcorn during movies are advised not to carry on reading.

You have been warned!!!

Don't say I never say ar...

They opened up the coffin. It was flooded with water though. Didn't feel scared or anything. Felt more like a science lesson. Trying to identify the various parts each time they took out some.

Very interesting to see the of decomposition wasn't really complete.
The flesh on the face was still quite intact. Really! Instead of seeing a hollow eye area, the lids were still there, closed.

Some flesh still remained on the bones yet to be decomposed.

My my... Thats like more than 20 years already. The coffin must have been of rather good quality.

The socks she wore on her feet were still there wrapping the bone.

Now as I'm typing this, I just realised I didn't really see them taking out the spine leh! Why har??
Cannot be it broke into the smaller pieces right? Or was I looking elsewhere instead?

Anyway, when all the bones were taken out, the grave diggers brought it to be creamated.

We were asked to go have our breakfast while waiting. Sitting down and having breakfast with this side of my family seems a bit weird. I spent 1/4 of the time trying to understand the dialect of what they say.

Went back to collect the ashes and put it in a niche where it shall be her final resting place.

Yep.. So thats about it ok.
