Budget flights ain't that budget after all. I don't see what's the big hype over it unless they have some super cheap promo.
Anyway, I'm going Hong Kong in March with dad. We're gonna visit Bro. Well not that he is based in HK. But we'll meet near there.
Dad's left me to do the bookings and researching and stuff. He only expects to go there eat, sightsee and visit Bro. If I wanna do any shopping or go anywhere else, I'll have to find out the places to go, what to visit blah blah blah.
So since its just a 3 over hour flight, we actually didn't mind flying budget. So I tried to do the bookings last night. Card declined. Tried again, still declined. Called card company, they said payment went through and I had to check back with merchant again.
Today, I called up the merchant which is the budget carrier. They said it was declined.
So I had to call up the card company again and they said that the amount which went through last night, became rejected after that.
Ok fine, I tried again but this time, I waited half hour and the stupid page was still processing the payment. I was getting rather frustrated already. Called the reservation hotline. They said I've a current booking and asked me for my card details.
Was quite surprised that my booking went through... They said that their credit card gateway was having some upgrading and stuff like that. So its not within my control that the card can't get through since last night.
Then... They quoted me a higher price. Claiming that that's the current online rate due to a surge in demand for that flight. But why should I be paying the higher rate? I did try to book last night ma. Its not the card which has problem and can't get through. Why should I be paying a higher rate just because the website isn't reliable enough to use a backup server or even have a message/page prompting the user that they may experience a bit of difficulty booking it and advised to book through phone instead. If they are too lazy to create the page to inform customers about the payment problem, and they have a record that I've tried to book 3 times already.
Then at least honor the lower amount la.. Cause its through no fault of the customer that they are unable to book earlier.
Did ask the person who answered the call about this but all she could say was sorry, we only charge you at current internet rate.
Hello, under normal circumstances its understandable. But when your website decline my booking?
Though I was pissed that I've gotta pay an additional $52. I still went ahead with the booking with this sucky airline which by the way, is Jet Star.
So the more I thought about it, the more I didn't feel like taking Jet Suck. The only reason why they were probably experiencing the surge in demand was because other passengers were also trying to book and had the same card decline response which will probably result in them trying two or three times each.
Anyway, I went to search around for other airlines and found a flight with normal full service and stuff like that. The price difference was about a hundred bucks only lor.
Might as well just top it up and enjoy more leg room and better service. =)
Gonna cancel the silly budget tickets. Too bad for the sucker.
